| We made the annual trek to Cape May in August. There were fifteen of us in a huge house on Queen Street. This year was extra special because it was my parents 50th wedding anniversary. I have the best parents in the world....

| The AMA Grand National Dirt Track Show came to Saluda Virginia last month. It was a long ride to get there, down the Eastern Shore and across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. It was a well run event. Kenny Coolbeth took the win after reeling in early leader Jared Mees. Both of these guys are from District 6. I used to watch them race minibikes at the local track years ago; that makes me feel old. I scarfed down several excellent barbeque and coleslaw sandwiches they were selling at the concession stand. Virginia and North Carolina is THE place to go for good barbeque. I decided to camp at the track for free. There was the usual carrying on and drinking till late but that’s OK, I remember when I did the same.
I stopped and talked with these guys awhile; they were from the Eastern Shore HOG chapter.
You can see my green tent just to the right of the flagpole

| Robbie Knievel came to town last month. ING Bank sponsored the event. Being a long time Knievel fan I went and watched the jump. The interesting part for me was studying the apprehension on his face just before the jump, and wondering what it would be like to be in his shoes. Compared to what he has done in the past and what the free style motoX guys do now, the jump was not that big. However it was plenty big enough to break ones neck.
Knievel is still the biggest name in show business... |
